My Job

Many people ask what I do for a career. Sometimes they try to guess before I tell them. I get everything from school teacher, accountant, to counselor. I then say I work in Facility Management. They normally have a very puzzled look on their face. I proceed to tell them that I work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Facility Management Department. We maintain the church buildings in the Gilbert, Queen Creek Arizona area. We have 9 stakes, 3 seminaries. As well as 4 buildings and 1 seminary that is under construction or design phase. Everyday there is something new to solve. The next question I get is how I got involved with facilities management. About three years ago I started looking for a new job, I was hired as an office assistant for the Mesa FM Group. I would pay the bills, answer the phone, do work orders and anything else that needed to be done. Then almost a year ago I finished my masters and received a promotion as an Assistant Facility Manager in the Gilbert FM Group. I love the people that I work with they are my extended family here in Phoenix. I now do more project base work and serve the priesthood leadership of the church. I love my job, I truly feel like I'm doing my part in building up the kingdom of God. I have to admit that out of all the jobs which I have had this is the one that I enjoy the most and find the most fulfilment in. Yes, some days are busy and stressful but I always walk away at the end of the day feeling that I had a difference in this world that we live in. And that feeling bring me a large amount of peace, joy and happiness.

Grandma Sitting

My grandma is 93 years old! That's right 93 pretty amazing if you ask me and she is one of the most beautiful people that I know. My family is blessed to have her live with our parents. She brings many blessing into our lives. On occasion I have the opportunity to go down to Tucson and stay with her when my parents are out of town. We talk, go on walks and eat chocolate most of the time. She has accomplished many great things in her life. One being raising my wonderful mother. I truly look forward to and cherish the weekends that I get to send with her. Grandma Lyman I love you and so grateful to have you in my life!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Everyone does something which is relaxing for them. Read a book, run, sew, crafts, hike, biking, swimming, taking a nap to name a few. For me, my relaxation comes when I make cookies. There is just something about mixing the ingredients together, using that arm muscle and adding chocolate chips to taste that is soothing to me. Of course one has to test at least 2 cookies with a large glass of milk. Typically I give most of them away to friends and neighbors, I have to watch my girlish figure you know. If I don't say myself I can make a pretty mean cookie. Maybe its all the TLC that goes into them, probably all the Crisco!!! Making cookies is like taking all your frustration mixing it into a large mass then piece by piece making it into something beautiful and quite tasty. The best part is the end product that you can share with others. So here is to world peace, comfort food and sharing the happiness with others!

New Years- Better Late Then Never

Dad praying that the balloon does not fly into the neighbors backyard and start a fire!!!

Up, up and away!!!!

For the past couple years instead doing the new years single scene I have spent New Years with my family in Tucson. Each year we do some type of activity from puzzles, WII, to eating a lot of food. This year was no different. So my sibling decided to make a hot air balloon! Did you know you can make hot air balloons, I didn't. All you need is tissue paper, rubber cement, cotton ball, dental floss( this one is for you dad) and alcohol. The most important part is large amounts of friends in order to get it in the air. Oh, and don't forget to tell the neighbors!!!!! It was a fun activity and we did not set any yards or houses on fire so it was a success.

A Corning sibling actually got married

Often, I wonder how many times people ask the question when is a Corning child going to get married? Well, guess what world it actually happened!!!! Amy Corning decided to take the plunge for us kids. And she did a great job at it as well. I am so happy for them, it was a wonderful and beautiful day. I hope Trent and Amy both now how much I love them and care about them. The day they left after family prayer there was a feeling of this is the way it was always met to be. So Trent welcome to the family!!!!
